the street. county vat channel 2 reporter tara moriarty is in san francisco with more on what you need to know if you plan to head into the city. tara. >> reporter: every member of the police force will be out in full force this weekend. they are actually going to be closing northbound lane here along the embarcadero. we are right in front of the official team store for oracle usa for the america's cup. the closure will allow emergency vehicles access into the hub of the activity. what a jam packed weekend it is expected to be. the america's cup will draw 40,000 people. city leaders hope all of the activities will be a hear individualer for what is to come next year. if you look up into the skies of san francisco you will see the beloved blue angels. they have been making practice rounds for the show on saturday

and sunday. here's a look at the other helps going on. the giants are taking on the reds in the national league playoffs saturday and sunday. the bluegrass festival will take place in golden gate park. and the 49ers will play the bills sunday. the heritage parade is happening in north beach on sunday also. we have two mega cruise ships docking here in the bay. that will bring about 7,000 people in the city. if you think you will be able to fine a parking spot in the city, you are mistaken. live in san francisco i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. transportation agent sills are gearing up for this very busy weekend by saturdaying more services starting tonight. bart will have up to dozen event trains and longer hours. there will be three times as many ferries as usual in and out of the city. and muni is adding services and shuttles going straight to the giants game.

playoff fever certainly hitting bay area baseball fans hard with both teams playing in the playoffs games this weekend. fans very excited. coming up at 4:45 we will take a look at how local businesses are benefiting from both the a's and giants wins. new this morning two bart riders were robbed at gunpoint. that happened just about 11:30 last night at the coliseum bart station parking lot. they were getting into their cars when two suspected gunmen approached them. they reportedly took their cell phones and ran with the help of police dogs though bart police tracked the suspects to a nearby warehouse area. at least one of the suspects may have been bitten by the dog and taken to the hospital. the robbery victims were not hurt. 4:32 is the time right now. a woman is in custody after leading sheriffs deputies on a wild chase throughout the east bay.

she ran several red lights on east 14th street from san leandro to oakland last night. when she got to the end of the street she turned around and went back the other way. she was stopped at 61st avenue. the chase lasted for nearly a halve hour. ktvu has confirmed that police have investigated a complaint regarding this marijuana garden. they did not take any action because it is all legal. now we spoke to a man that has been growing the spot as part of is a medical marijuana elective. >> i dispense it to the clubs. >> i think there is more to the story than meets the eye. the growers say they try to keep the operation under wraps.

intense search is under way in the lake tahoe area for an inmate that escaped hours before due in prison. a judge granted anthony da tell low a three hour release to take care of personal business before he was transferred from jail to prison. he was asked to be driven to a hospital that is where authorities say he took off. an american man opened fire at a hotel in israel killing a hotel chef following a reported dispute. police killed the gunman that had been working at the hotel as part of a work study program that brings jews to israel. so far he is identified as a 23- year-old man from new york. it happened in the red sea resort city which was full of quests on holiday. in election news this morning, president obama and mitt romney continue to target

swing states today as the latest unemployment figures are set to be released in about an hour. president obama will visit virginia, then ohio. democrats are regrouping following wednesday's disappointing debate. president obama accused republican challenger of mitt romney of being dishonest. mitt romney will also be campaigning in virginia today. he's holding a coal country rally just days after accusing the obama administration of crushing the coal industry. meantime romney is clarifying his controversial 47% comments. now he says he was completely wrong when he said half of americans are victims independent on the government. now both mitt romney and president obama will be keeping a close eye on the jobless report which is due to be released in about an hour from now. 115,000 jobs were added.

they say that will increase the unemployment rate to 8.2%. now that some discouraging job seekers are returning to look for jobs. the film that di pickets the osama bin laden man hunt is set to debut in two days. the new film is distributed by the weinstein company. harvey weinstein is a prominent fundraiser for the obama campaign. they say the timing is not to be believed political. skyrocketing gas places may not come down any time soon. the fire at the chevron refinery at richmond and power refinery lowered supply caused the average price for regular in the state to jump 36-cents in a week.

you've been hearing us say all week really how it's going to be quite a weekend in san francisco so if you are taking your car into the city, a word to the wise it will be tough, it's going to be crowded all weekend long. we will be saying that again just so you know. there goes cal train. just for steve. northbound 280 traffic looks good getting up to highway 17. here is steve. >> not going near the city, sal. a lot of high clouds over us and low clouds. had the big cool down yesterday. it will continue for some. well inland today. and also -- the main event of many. it will be partly cloudy, mostly cloudy and breezy. there will be low clouds. we also have a little bit of fog starting yesterday. that really brought temperatures down. it's a cooler temperatures.

perhaps trying to avoid idling in traffic and avoiding that gas guzzle. no major problems on the way into the city. remember just because ewe are going into the city now and relatively uncrowded today the next day and the next day will be tough days. we'll talk about that soon. the morning commute on northbound 270 getting up to -- 280 getting up to highway 17 looking pretty good. z we have a lot of high clouds. leading edge of that low pressure system that is finally cinching toward us. as it does it's giving us a westerly breeze and me a bad voice. fleet week forecast is the same as america's cup and giants and whatever festival whatever you are going to. it will be on the cool side for the city and much of the bay. upper 50s and low 60s partly sunny and partly cloudy. cool and breezy. anything over 62 would be a surprise. the fog picked up yesterday.

inland areas dropped. we'll continue that theme today. far areas all the way out to the valley. temperature will come back into the 70s for some that were about 102 the other day. ten degree spread here still a westerly component. i don't think that is going anywhere. the key is this low right here. this low is what is being drawn toward us. and spinning in high and mid level clouds. maybe some little garden variety showers. wouldn't probably be until late sunday into monday. 60s and 70s. partly sunny high clouds. cool in the morning. breeze s to windy at times. nice for some and chilly for others. if you're in that fog or in that pretty good breeze, it can be rather chilly. it does look like mostly cloudy skies. monday and tuesday clear and breezy.

an east bay boy scout has visited of becoming an eagle scout. a change in plans for endeavour. the reason why it's angering many people that are trying to get a last glimpse of the space shuttle before its move to the final destination.

that is the ten-year-old san jose girl who has been reunited with her puppy who was stolen from their home two days ago. a family found nico in a parking lot. they saw the puppy was a stray and took it home. but after seeing the news report they found out it was stolen. a bay area teenager says he is being denied being an eagle scout because who he is. he thought he had reached the highest goal in scouting. his final eagle scout project was building what he called a tolerance wall. filled with antibullying messages at an east bay middle school. he chose that for his project because he had been bullied. >> he had reflected drippily on exthat experience and wanted to

pretty good on westbound 24 between walnut creek and oakland. it is a nice drive. there are no major problems on interstate 680 nearby. also the morning commute looks good if you are driving to the bay bridge toll plaza. it has been a nice drive coming into san francisco with no major problems. if you are driving on 80 westbound coming through, this commute from vallejo to richmond looks very nice. 4:55 let's go to steve. >> happy friday sal. we have mostly cloudy skies. not only low clouds in place, you can't see those but they are there and high clouds moving over areas of low pressure. low and high clouds breezy. and cool down yesterday continues for inland areas today. coast, bay, and many inland areas dropped yesterday. we'll continue that theme today. i think temperatures by the coast around the bay settling in hour to 60s. 49 santa rosa. antioch at 55. westerly component that is not going anywhere any time soon.
